Indroduction to Bharat Nirman Trust

History and coverage.

Bharat Nirman Trust is an organization got registered under the Indian Trust Act 1882 in the year 2007 for the purpose of developing the marginalized sections of the society. It was the realization of the heartfelt desire of a group of young people, headed by the present CEO DR. Vino Paul, who has had the bent of mind to devote his life for the poor and the marginalized. It's operational area is Palakkad, Trissur & Idukki districts of Kerala and Coimbatore & Nilgiri districts of Tamil Nadu.
The focus group of the organization is women, tribes, minorities, unorganized workers, orphans, street dwellers and other marginalized sections of the society.
The Context Palakkad, the `rice bowl of Kerala', is one among the most dry and backward districts of Kerala in terms of development, when compared to the other parts of Kerala. It continues to have a `slow growth rate, poor quality of life and low per capita income'. Palakkad has the lowest literacy rate and the lowest level of physical and social infrastructure facilities.
In the health sector, Palakkad is in the 13th position within the state. The human development index for the district reveals that most parts of the district have low to moderate levels of development in terms of social, economic and infrastructure facilities.
These areas include the blocks of Chittur, Alathur, Mannarkad, Attappady, Kollengode, Kuzhalmannam and Nemmara. Palakkad has the highest number of Schedule Castes and Scheduled Tribes population in the State and is one of the lowest urbanised districts in Kerala.
This context in Palakkad extends to the Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu by all means or even worse. Vision India was born to bring in changes in the lives of the poor and downtrodden in this backward region especially among women, children, the scheduled communities and economically weaker sections.
